Manna Meal Community Garden in Charleston were one of 15 Green Thumbs, Healthy Joints 2012 Grant Recipients. Here is a brief update on their progress this summer.
Manna Meal Community Garden taped a short TV segment at the Culture Center on June 19. That segment includes an update for Manna Meal Community Garden with photos. They purchased ergonomic tools and two raised tables with the Green Thumbs, Healthy Joints grant. Folks prefer using the ergonomic tools to all other tools. The two raised tables have been planted, so they are awaiting the little harvest from that. Presented/partnered at the May 2012 Culture Center Garden Festival with Mary Slabinski-Schmidt, who was representing Green Thumbs. Collaborated to do a bit of community education about the program and show their raised table and ergonomic tools to others with needs. They have done more education than anything at this point in time. They consider their garden an outdoor classroom. It attracts many Master Gardeners who need service hours. It has brought attention to the availability of adaptive tools for those who love gardening.
